JIAN BING TUTORIAL

 

It seems a bit odd, learning to make jianbing oneself from a recipe or photo tutorial, when it's so much easier and more fun to have a street vendor make it for you right in front of your eyes.  But there are people, including one of eatingchinese.org's registered members, who miss them so much when away from China that they are willing to make the effort to make them at home, if they only knew how....  For those benighted souls, here is a brief photo-tutorial in Chinese from  the same publishers who brought us the xiaolong bao tutorial, also posted here at eatingchinese.org.  The version made here is the one using a whole you tiao as a filler instead of the less carb-heavy version which uses a strip of deep-fried tofu sheet, which I personally prefer.
